Customer-centric design is a powerful ally that turns ideas and intentions into reality.

FAQs

How would you quickly define your job?

Design is the creative act of intentionally trying to influence an outcome. In my case, it involves working on digital products that solve specific problems and fulfill specific needs people have, while being profitable. And I do this by bridging the gap between customers' needs, business goals and technology.

What’s a common misconception about your job?

  • Design is not ONLY about playing with colors and typography
  • Design is about understanding the problem it solves and the people it solves it for
  • Design is about vision, strategy and planning. And yes, craft as well
  • That's why I like to say that design begins before the act of designing itself

What’s your design philosophy?

  1. Kill the bias: I start every project like if I don’t know anything. I can have intuitions but I akways try to base my thinking and my decisions on data as much as possible.
  2. Be user-centric: Not doing all it takes to create a strong empathy and understanding of users can have a HUGE COST down the road. As a business, we create a product to solve a problem, so we’d better make sure we fully understand the problem and the people who experience it.
  3. Always be in motion: I’m a perfectionist and I don’t think this is a good thing. That’s why I try to embrace imperfection and my manager’s moto "Better Done Than Perfect". Short delivery cycles ensure frequent feedback loops, which lead to constant improvement and maintaining the right direction, while developing differienciation from competition.

What’s your design process?

There is no universal, step by step process you can apply on every project. I believe a strong product designer skill is to figure out what next step is needed to make the project move forward. What I can tell you is that I'll never jump in Figma without having deeply thought about the project. That being said, there's a framework I actually LOVE using. It's called F.O.C.U.S.E.D. and was created by 2 French product design vets.

What are your values?

  • Best idea wins, not ego
  • If you do something, do it well
  • I believe in strong and genuine relationships and collaborations
  • Communication, benevolence, inclusivity and respect are everything
  • Failing is an opportunity to learn and in all cases, one should own their shit

What are your superpowers?

  1. I have a strong sense of empathy, which makes it easy for me to connect with people and understand them
  2. I’m a team player and a diplomat, always striving to make people feel at ease and considering all sides of an argument, problem or solution
  3. I’m passionate and dedicated to my job. And according to my colleagues, FUN to work with!

What are you still mastering?

I'm a continuous learner and a generalist. I don't see myself stop reading newsletters, books, or listening to podcasts about product design, user psychology and behavior, marketing and copywriting, to name a few.

Also, visual and interactive design is about continuously learning and improving, and my passion for it fuels my motivation to do so.

Inclusive and accessible design is something that really interests me and that I need to deep dive in.
